Drawing

There is certainly something meditative in the drawing process. Sometimes, as artists, we aim at realism whilst the nagging of form, line and even abstraction tug at our sleeve like a child that knows its demands deserve attention. So, we abandon true reflections for expressive reflections where line and rule don’t necessarily meet. For myself I am finding the use of line and layering particularly intriguing. I am especially drawn to the interdisciplinary layering of forms within a digital space. When I merge something digitally for instance, how are my layers constructed and what might be the outcome. Drawing is therefore not meant to be left as sketches and plans but incorporated into the work as a fundamental part of the work. What would happen if Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings and sketches merged with his paintings? What if layers of drawings of a similar place are merged together. Is it a more unified whole? Is it more art than before?
